No discussion of ’90s pop culture would be complete without mentioning Kurt Cobain, the greatest figure in grunge style and the ambassador of the misunderstood. Cobain’s persona was the voice of many people. His talent as the lead singer of Nirvana brought him frequent invitations to red-carpet events.
In 1994, Cobain went to the Video Music Awards (VMAs) with his wife, Courtney Love, from the band Hole, and their daughter, Frances Bean. Later that year, he died after a history of depression and abusing substances. Many believe it was a suicide, though various conspiracy theories have also arisen.
