The photo above shows aboard the Qatar Airlines flight, which took some eighty falcons on board in 2017. The birds’ plane tickets were bought and paid for by a Saudi Prince, a member of the royal family. The photo was taken by the pilots and posted on the company’s Twitter account.
There were also other passengers aboard who were astonished by this sight. The birds were all hooded to ensure calm travel. The prince did it to help them migrate. In the Middle East, the law dictates that falcons need to have a passport to travel. This is because of the illegal trade problems the species faces.
