Elvis: That’s the Way It Is was released in 1970 and documented Presley’s return to the stage after years of making films. Directed by Denis Sanders, the documentary was crucial in helping to revalidate Elvis’ career as a musician and promoting his Las Vegas Summer concerts – making money in return. The documentary’s original concept was, of course, developed by music industry mogul and Elvis’ lifetime agent, Colonel Tom Parker.
The documentary was well received, reaching the 22nd position in the National Box Office charts. It was reissued twice, in 2001 and 2014, and remains a must-watch for every Elvis fan.
