Royals Marrying Divorcees – 81 Years Apart

In 1936, King Edward VIII hit headlines in the United Kingdom when he signed his abdication papers. He only reigned over the country less than a year before this occurrence. His resignation was a consequence of the decision he made to marry an American divorcee named Wallis Simpson. He became the first English royal in history to abdicate the throne voluntarily.
Like his ancestor, Prince Harry also married an American divorcee, Meghan Markle, in 2018. In the modern age, Prince Harry had to face fewer problems in comparison to King Edward VIII. Harry’s situation may probably be less complicated because he’s not the reigning monarch.
