Kim Basinger – 62nd Academy Awards, 1990

It isn’t every day that a celebrity wears her own creation, but Kim Bassinger did just that in 1990. She designed the Cinderella-inspired gown for the Academy Awards, and we wouldn’t say that it’s horrible in any way.
Understandably, it wasn’t everyone’s favorite. However, it added talking points about her after she won the Best Supporting Actress Award for L.A Confidential. She went on a rank back then, calling out the Academy for not including Do The Right Thing by Spike Lee on the list of award-worthy films. A clip that captured that moment surfaced and went viral in 2019.
