Just like many other actors did before they became famous, Ralph Macchio appeared in many commercials as a teenager—at least until he was cast in the ’80s series Eight Is Enough. His big break came in 1984 when he landed the starring role in the first Karate Kid film, which instantly became a cult classic. Macchio’s salary increased tremendously and, in 1986, he starred in Crossroads. Subsequently, he didn’t manage to land equally important roles. But since 2018, he has been starring in Cobra Kai, the series spin-off of Karate Kid. He’s been married to Phyllis Fierro since 1987.
