Unlike Julia Roberts, her co-star in Pretty Woman, Richard Gere, had already started his career with minor roles in the ’70s. He had to spend 10 years unnoticed until he landed the starring role in the 1980 film American Gigolo, which made him a Hollywood star overnight. The ’90s found Gere even more successful, with roles in Sommersby and Runaway Bride—again with Roberts. Though he’s still active, his salary probably decreased because his political beliefs made him some kind of an outcast since the late 2000s. Gere was once married to one of the world’s top supermodels, Cindy Crawford. While in 2018, he tied the knot with his third wife, Alejandra Silva.
