She stared at the photo until her eyes watered. Nothing made sense at all. It was unbelievable that she’d find such an important clue in her own home. Did her parents know something? The figure behind her in the photo was blurry, almost like a shadow with a coat.
The longer she looked, the clearer it became. It was a girl, only a little older, but with the same height and eyes. Her eyes. Lila turned the photo over. There was a sentence on the back: “You’ve been here before.” As she looked again, the photo changed. Slowly, the girl’s eyes shifted to meet hers. The photo blinked.
