This Girl Followed a Puppy Into an Alley—Then Disappeared From Maps
The Room That Changed
The hallway hadn’t been there before. Lila turned a corner and found wet concrete under her shoes. At the end stood a metal door with no handle. When she touched it, it opened into her bedroom—or something pretending to be. It was the same bookshelf, same ceiling crack. But outside the window, there was no world—just fog.
Then she saw the mirror. Her reflection smiled, raised one hand, and pointed to the closet. Lila opened it. It was empty except for an old envelope with her name in red ink, written in her own handwriting. Inside was one line: “Don’t trust the girl with the braid.”
