Orlando Cruz & José Manuel Colón
Orlando Cruz and José Manuel Colón, his partner, married in 2013, a year after he became the first openly gay boxer. The wedding ceremony was held in New York’s Central Park with the New York Councilmember Melissa Mark officiating it. Cruz has since been embraced by the LGBT community for being out and proud and he has also gotten his boxing nickname El Fenomeno. Cruz and Colón now have been happily married for almost 6 years and have clearly made boxing history. Unfortunately, Cruz was affected by the Pulse Nightclub shooting after losing four friends so he dedicated a fight to them.
