Gene Tunney was active in the world of boxing during the ’10s and ’20s. He was known for becoming both a world heavyweight and light heavyweight champion. While he was fulfilling his military service during World War I, he was also doing a lot of boxing at that time.
In fact, he was well known for being the U.S. Expeditionary Forces champion. Tunney was already 81 years old when his life came to an end at the Greenwich Hospital, Connecticut, back in 1978. A circulation ailment is reportedly what brought him to his last breath.
