Rare Pictures of Elvis Presley That Show The Rare Human Behind The Legend

Elvis Was Not a Good Guitar Player

Elvis Presley had the voice of an angel to match his undeniably good looks. And while he once admitted being a fairly common guitarist at best, Presley’s energy and posture on stage would make up for his technical limitations. Inside the studio, Elvis was mostly an interpreter, and while he was co-credited in many songs, he actually didn’t write any of the over 500 songs in his catalog.

In this picture, first published in 1965, we can see Elvis sitting inside his Graceland property, having fun with a Fender P-Bass guitar. Although it makes for a pretty picture, the evidence shows that he wasn’t very likely to spend his time practicing his guitar-playing skills.
