Rare Pictures of Elvis Presley That Show The Rare Human Behind The Legend

Elvis & His $100K Home

Elvis Presley loved his hometown and lived in Tennessee during the entirety of his adult life. Graceland was a 10,266-square-foot estate that Elvis bought in Memphis for himself and his family in 1957. In this picture, he poses in all-white clothes in front of Graceland’s imposing main entrance.

Graceland cost over $100K, a ridiculous amount at that time, and was named by the original owner, Dr. Thomas Moore, in memory of his wife’s aunt Grace Toof. It would later inspire Michael Jackson, a huge Elvis Presley fan, to build his own megalomaniac house, Neverland.
