Donna Douglas lived until she was 82 years old and would no doubt have continued to enjoy her bank account had it not been for an unfortunate battle with cancer. Her role as Ella May on The Beverly Hillbillies put her on the map and is what she would be best remembered for. She starred in the show from 1962 til 1971 although she could also sing and was an avid writer. Not one to be meddled with, she once filed a lawsuit against Disney and cast members of Sister Act, claiming they had plagiarized a book owned by her. Disney won the court case after she rejected a $1-million settlement.
