Athletes Who Served In The Military – Some Of Them Should Be Considered National Heroes
Joe Louis, Died At Age 66 – Net Worth Undisclosed

Joe Louis was already a known boxer when he joined the United States Army during World War II. He was drafted in 1942 and was able to reach the rank of technical sergeant by 1945. He also received a Legion of Merit, which got him released from the Army immediately.
Things weren’t fine after his release because he apparently had a lot of money problems due to his tax bill and debts. Louis was 66 years old when he passed away back in 1981. He was actually watching the Larry Holmes-Trevor Berbick Heavyweight Championship match just hours before a cardiac arrest took away his life.
